IMO the best fish are free...I prefer to keep local species. There are some that I would spend a bit of money for but I doubt I would ever spend more than $50.00 for a fish.

I don't have a problem paying good money for a fish I want....my problem is how long will the fish live under my care. It would make me sick to pay $2500 - $5,000 on a fish and having it die in less than a month!

lol ive only spent about 35 for a single fish but i would spend proably about 100 for the right fish. but then i again that i think about it i spent 300 for a tank that i only kept one fish in so does that count?

Most expensive fish I would consider purchasing, would be either of a pike cichlid, giant gourami, or a zebra pleco.
Most I've spent on a fish was $16, and it was my deceased Rhino pleco.

Most expensive fish i have is my marble cat, he cost me 40.00. I think Id go as high as 50-60.00 for a really rare oddball fish though.
