Most impressive home aquarium fish...

What about an full grown group of bichir bichir in a 1000 gallon tank

For saltwater an full out 1000 gallon reef with some lionfish and rare puffers
For brackish an full out 1000 gallon tank with about 20 or so archerfish and scats

Hands down.. Fahaka Puffer.

Colorful, active, playful, responsive, killer..

Everyone always 'remembers' the puffer, and all the other tanks are 'just fish'..

Just my opinion but I truly believe arowanas are ugly, would NEVER have one. For bottom feeders a TSN or red tail cat, off the botttom a large Distichidus or Pacu I like a lot but prefer groups of pretty fish, think this may be impressive.

At my house the Pacu takes the cake, hes a big goofy fish with a ton of personality. But I think most people who casually keep fish remember him by is the fact he isnt beaten up...there are alot of Pacu around here but they all honestly look like ****. My silver butterfish in the brackish tank are kind of impressive...I think the *caution venomous fish* sticker kind of makes them more appealing tho.

I have to say:
Catfish: RTC are beautiful cats, the gulper can take one hell of a bite
But i have to say a single fish that makes everyone, (fishkeepers or not, experienced or novice, young and old)...the electric eel. its size, gracefulness and mysterious nature makes it an all time favorite for me. not to mention its eating techniques. E-eel is next on my to buy list.

when we have people over they are blown away by my 20in silver aro and some of the other large cichlids. most people don't know ANYTHING about freshwater other than what they see at petco/petsmart.

i had relatives SWEAR i was keeping saltwater fish because they couldn't believe you could buy freshwater fish that get as large as SA/CA cichlids/aro's/catfish/FW puffer. i really get a kick out of watching their reactions,
