Jim...I am 100% positive that's a male Fredrichsthali...especially after seeing the older pictures. Anything is possible, but I seriously doubt that it's a cross.

If your 100% positive Mo, then im 99% sure your correct.

Dont take offence buddy, as i dont doubt your knowledge, but im gonna post some pics on CRC and get some second opinions.

Its frustrating when you purchase a species and get ripped off with something different.

Cheers for pointing this out for me mo.

Go for it. I've been wrong before. Let me know what they say.

The male is a freddy; the female red tiger motaguense. Mojo is right.

looks like he must be a freddie then. My confusion origionates with the striking resemblences of the two fish.
He bares far too many resemblances to the female in my eyes, to be considered a differant species to her. I would lean more towards stating that they both must be a race of freddie maybe???!? Or both be crosses?!?!?!? i would add that these were purchased fron Don Conkel.
Apart from obvious colour differences, (i.e shes orange/black/red and he's orange/black/bronze) and spots the male exhibits below the lateral line, they have identical markings and body shape to the each other, their stress patterning is identical too.

They are not crosses and not both a "race" of freddies.

Like was said in the prior posts and my first guess, the male is a Friedrichsthalii & female is a Mota red tiger variant.

Mixing the 2 is an easy mistake to be made, especially at the 1-3 inch sizes.

look like the male must definitely be freddy then. Cheers for posting folks.

Ive found this pic tonight of a pair of Freddies which resemble my two fish. Could my female possibly be a Freddie too??? Or is she definitely RTM??? I didnt realise there were different variations in Freddies, i thought they were only yellow, im suprised that there are orange ones too.

Those are Red Tiger Motaguense, not Freddis. hobbykwekers.nl is mistaken..and that male doesnt resemble yours at all, at least not in the pics. It completely resembles the pictures AquaMojo put up. Do you really not see that? Are you trying to pull everyones leg? Like 4 people have told you EXACTLY what you have and its almost like you refuse to believe it.

No offense intended, just wondering...

Absolutely not those are 100% freddy and where's the red? As for variants of freddy I know there are some from the cenote escondido and other parts of Mexico. I have some pics of a really nice pair of regular motags they belong to a member from here pingpong. Here they are

I dont understand what youre saying. Are you saying the last post by jimmy side eye ARE freddis? or arent?

They are RTMs...and the identical fish species in the pictures you posted except Red variant. I think thats what youre saying, but not sure from your post. Sorry.

My last post was in regards to the last post Jimmy Side Eye made, not his first question. I stated in my first response that it was a freddi. Read the thread form the beginning and youll see what Im saying.
