You did a good job cleaning it up. The way it looked would have scared some people off. Maybe even myself.

Whatever way your floor runs your joices run the opposite way. Like I have hardwood flooring tht runs horizantle so my joices run vertical. Just a tip to let you know. So if you have carpet u could fold a corner over to look in that room to c what way your floor runs
 
I don't have hard wood floors but can pull a corner of carpet up with vice grips. That's an interesting theory. Can anyone confirm this is a sure fire way to determine the support's running direction?

My dads done alot of flooring and so has my friends dad because he used to be in construction for yearsssss. its true. your floor would run the same way as your joices think about it your floor boards would have to be wide as heck to get it to fit the joices. but you should def have hardwood under the carpet

just a tip... i bought my grabbers from the 99c store. they also have a bunch of other misc. aquarium stuff
