I don't really find them appealing either that's why I've never had any , I don't know what it is about them but I've never wanted to keep those or discus , although discus can be very nice fish and stunning colors there a bit soft for my taste I like monsters ;)

I agree, I find discus to be in some cases very beautiful, but some can be very bland. But I do find them to be dull and lack personality.

I don't really want to have typical community tank with lots of random fish, I find that look to be displeasing to the eye.

A species tank or a few relatively large fish to be more of my taste when it comes to this tank.

One day, I'm definitely setting up a pleco only, river stream, Cory and puffer tanks.... And lots of others....one day.

And of course a saltwater tank, but only because I really want moray eels. Otherwise I pretty much can't get enough of freshwater fishes.

I need to hurry up and get educated, graduated and paid;) because this lack of space and tanks is borderline unbearable. And I hate this forum...way too many tanks here I need to duplicate.

I might go with elephant nose fish tank set up, I'm going to read me up on them now.

Could be cool if I get it right..and they tolerate each other. Off to google I go.

a single rhombeus piranha and no plants .

My supplier has some for 90 dollars, they are about half the size of a fully grown one.

They do look pretty neat, but no plants means no thanks.

I used to own with my previous roommate 8 red belly piranha, at least they went great with plants.

ornate pim catfish, your geos and nics, along with a peacock eel, some butterfly fish and a big shoal of exodons, red torpedo barbs, denison rainbows... would be cool.. i know hardly a biotope but still very cool setup imo.

I like the ornate pim. catfish idea and I do like freshwater butterfly fish, however exodons (buck tooth tetras) hardly fits well with those fishes and plants I believe. I'll check out torpedo barbs, but not a fan of rainbow fish.

I'll definitely read more about the catfish!

I personally love snakeheads. Maybe you can do your tank with some species of them.
