my 625 gallon DIY plywood aquarium build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The 3k im building is portable...hole purpose of the build, i guess we just seem to think alike haha. I wouldnt be able to get it in my house if it was fully welded. The 650 i made can be carried by 2 people no prob. I dont think ud need to dissassemble yours to move it.

The doors in my house are only 30 inches wide. and the glass for the 625gal is 32 inches tall. If I had double doors that opened up to over 4.5 ft and I had 4 vary strong friends it could be carried out. But that is not an option. I am not sure how strong you are and your friend that helped you get your 650 in to your house are. but just the bottom frame for my 625 gal tank is almost too heavy for 2 people to lift. The good news is that according to the tracking number the new glue is supposed to show up today :-)

dude what holding the glass into place? will it hold the pressure of the water?

A lip will support all 4 sides of the glass.
I have some smaller angle that will support the side edges of the glass and the plywood sides. That will be bolted to the bottom frame and top frame. I did not want to run the welder in my living room. After looking at a lot of plywood aquariums that looked more like wood working projects than a tank build I realized that I could weld up a frame to hold everything together. The bottom frame is too heavy for one person to pick up by them selves. The top frame is about as heavy as I can lift by my self.

Id consider some more support on that front glass as well as the rest of the wood lol... 1" or less is pretty scary. Does your liner come around the glass to the outside of the tank? Hard to tell from the pic. And what glue did you end up using?

Yes the liner comes around the font of the glass. it overlapped more than I had planned. I am going to get more steel tomorrow morning. I am using a glue called Welder it like like really powerful modeling glue and the only glue that bonded to the pond liner. I am going to put a layer of Goop marine over it.
