Hey Dan this blue boat is a godsend. I want to ask you I have a thread about the shotty craftsmanship of my 270 so I was in the market for a new tank (b4 this one blows) and an upgrade. I really didnt have $3000 to kick out so I am thinking about flying to wherever you live and kissing you.

This is right up my alley but the look is whats killling me. Since you already have one do you think I could build a stand and frame around it drill through the bottom and make it look like a pretty nice wall unit? In your opinion?? :naughty:

A stand for it??....I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything else than solid cement. These things were not built for a stand, but to place flat against the floor, be it plain ground or concrete. When I said built like a boat, I meant the ribs that make it a solid frame structure for the laminated fiberglass. The actual walls are relatively thin ...guesstimating at 3/16 to 1/4" from what I can see from the piece I drilled out while doing the bulkhead. The walls and floor remain semi-flexible, not stiff like a boat. The ribs also form a frame around the window itself, so there is a distance of about 3 1/2" from the glass to the outermost part of the frame....meaning making it like a window through a wall might be troublesome.

I guess, if you insist, you could make a frame stand for it out of 4 x 4 legs, with 2x4 supports every square feet and then it should be okay. Mind you lifting it a few inches above the ground takes 2 guys. Anything higher than that is a job for 4 guys. I think it would be a lot easier for you to paint it to your liking and then applying a gelcoat. If you're ever around zip code 33325 just drop by & I'll show you my setup. Good luck! Dan

wat will be in this hopefully dovii...i would asssume so

It is a 12" screw-on strainer, also available from Aquatic Eco Systems. It is made of semi-rigid plastic, like Rubbermaid products. Real neat. Look at the one I use for the overflow, it slides over the 2" pipe, same material, except this one has a sealed end. I'm sure this will slurp small fry, but then again...this is not a tank for small fish :D

yo man!

looks like you got a "quiet one" series pump

what model you got?

awsome tank guy! :)

...you got it...Quiet One -model 5000. It seems to have so much power that I'm thinking on making a "T" line out of it & use it to power a UV light & then a manifold for my four 20 gal tanks that will be hovering over...hummm:naughty:

My family sold the house in Davie the end of last year. I wouldve stopped by any given day now when I stay im usually on Collins and 17th or in Miramar. Next time I come down I will reach out. I would love to see your setup

sweetness! my family is moving sometime relatively soon, when they do if they build I might suggest one of these, and see if we can build a nice setup around it that incorporates right into the house! And naturally offer to pay for it, over a "payment plan" and incorporate it into their loan! :) Now just to convince the parents why we need a 700 gallon aquarium! :-D
