My 9 yr old son's tank

Considering I've never even tried raising guppies, swordtails or any other liverbearer .... these are my sons fish that came with a tank I picked up off of craigslist/kijiji .... for him ... they had been originally crammed into a 20G with 2 corydoras and a red-tailed shark. He kept the swords and guppies (guppies were all male and old ... shame) ... I kept the corydoras and redtailed shark (the shark went into my 55G and the cory's are in my 29G) ... just so far I've never had babies of any sort (other than human, dog, cat, cow, hamster .... basically just things with real legs, nothing aquatic so far ... but then again ... I haven't tried either)
As for my saying he's the better fish keeper ... his tank looks better, plants are more vibrant and now he has babies. That's all. Plus he totally kicks my butt when it comes to aquascaping.

Thanks redwolffish ... I'll pass it on to him. He was a little bummed out that's all he could do. But I'll cave and pick up a new light in a week or two .. then we'll more than likely pick up a few plants and some java moss so he can complete what he originally wanted to do.
 
Its really great to see the constant support you're giving your son with the hobby...

And I agree, the new scape looks quite nice, while it maybe bare now, i think i can see what your son has install for the tank ;)

simply cos livebearers are like teens, cant stop breeding. im buried alive in molly fry, im relieved as the females dead now.

I'm happy with the fry Pole ... I've always said they'd be free feeders for my other tanks.

Okay update ... picked up the light yesterday ... got him a Fluval LED. First of all I wish I had bought one of these in the first place ... I love it, and think its way better than the T5 I had purchased for my 55G. Tried to find a new lid for the 30G ... guess they don't sell lids for this style of tank anymore, the guy explained that I could get one built through him for $35. My half broken cover is working okay at the moment.
We added some java moss last night, and picked up an assortment of plants today for him to utilize. So I guess its safe to say I'm about to witness what he had pictured. I post some picks later tonight when he's done.
