My adopted tiger oscar not eating :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The preference would be to use non-iodized salt. But in an emergency, it can be used. Since the new tank is not up to temp (~74f), you can buy the pickling/ice cream salt and mix it in before you add the fish.

sounds good, i really appreciate the help getting Sherbert back on his fins lmao

Is it the red Morton's box? If so, just pre-dissolve the salt with tank water in a separate container like a mixing bowl, and throw away what is no longer dissolving. I've used Morton's ice cream salt for treating fish in the past with no issues.

ended up going with mortons kosher, adjusting large tank to comparable temperature to small tank with external heater, then im going to drop him into the big tank in a hour or two :) Could this oscar take a 10 degree temp difference , or would it stress him?

they pretty tuff, water changes are the word of the next few months with him, pristine water is needed to heal the HITH, pristine water at all times.

Should i use the PIMFIX(west indian bay tree extract) for another week? I never added it to new tank with salt, wasn't sure if it was necessary ith salt ?!?

it will not hurt. important to keep in mind that it is a preventative and not a cure. its made be used in conjunction with Medifix. your best coarse of action is water changes. until the tank cycles up, these will need to be every other day, at least 70 percent. IMHO.
