My Ball Python

This topic is so heated that the f/t people are never going acknowledge that feeding live can be done safely. Does that mean that every person out who feeds live takes the necessary precautions? Of course not.

I still firmly believe that bites can be the result of a number of factors that are under the keepers direct control. Sure, there may be a rat out there that is f-ing crazy, but those instances are very rare.

I can't honestly believe that live is so dangerous when there are collections out there valued in the millions of dollars that are fed live exclusively, with a low to zero instance of rodents bites.

F/T or P/K prey is ABSOLUTELY safer in terms of bites. I can recall, however, a few instances where people improperly fed f/t prey which resulted in the death of the animal(the prey item wasn't completely thawed). I'm sure all you f/t feeders are now thinking, "well DUH you have to know how to do it properly." As someone who feeds live, I think the same thing when I see a snake that has been badly injured by a rodent.

There is a middle ground here...its called mutual respect. Others have a right to do thing the way they see is best for them and their collections. The lack of that right there is why this topic always turns into such a pissing contest.

Actually we all agreed on not agreeing remember? The horse was dead remember?

lol....horse was dead at page 1, a pulp at 2, and pretty much a huge crater in the ground where it once was at this point.

I think great points were made by both sides and its pretty cool that this didn't get *too* ugly...definitely rare when it comes to this topic.

It's been a sour couple of days in the reptile forum, hasn't it...

there you go again putting human thought process in an animal that coincidentally you said relies on instinct. so now ball pythons instinctively feed on dead animals in plastic buckets...

..I'm done here.

and by the way.. walls, sorry. it was opichitchy or whatever not you. I retract.

No they "hunt" in glass boxes with plastic trees. YEAH!:headbang2

Oh and not ONE TIME in this thread did I say "they rely on instinct". YOU need to read the entire thread BEFORE quoting someone man.

actually now that you mention it.. I'm actually planning on planting live plants in the tank.. of course it's going to take some careful planning, and I gotta wait til the nursery is open.. but it's going to be a lot nice in there.

I like my plastic marijuana plant though.. too bad it's not real

but yeah... my snake is currently hunting a mouse. ..she kinda corners it and moves in for the kill.. pretty cool to watch.
