This topic is so heated that the f/t people are never going acknowledge that feeding live can be done safely. Does that mean that every person out who feeds live takes the necessary precautions? Of course not.
I still firmly believe that bites can be the result of a number of factors that are under the keepers direct control. Sure, there may be a rat out there that is f-ing crazy, but those instances are very rare.
I can't honestly believe that live is so dangerous when there are collections out there valued in the millions of dollars that are fed live exclusively, with a low to zero instance of rodents bites.
F/T or P/K prey is ABSOLUTELY safer in terms of bites. I can recall, however, a few instances where people improperly fed f/t prey which resulted in the death of the animal(the prey item wasn't completely thawed). I'm sure all you f/t feeders are now thinking, "well DUH you have to know how to do it properly." As someone who feeds live, I think the same thing when I see a snake that has been badly injured by a rodent.
There is a middle ground here...its called mutual respect. Others have a right to do thing the way they see is best for them and their collections. The lack of that right there is why this topic always turns into such a pissing contest.
