My Blue Acara growth and development

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is in a 125? And are you moving the Acara’s? Seems like a lot once full grown. If you are keeping the acaras I’d personally go with just 1 severum (and I like rotkiels and golds), and as for Geos I’d pick Tapajos. Of course you should pick the ones you like best though.

Might be a tight squeeze keeping your full list. I think you’d need to be very careful with the sex of your fish and get lucky with temperament.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Was cleaning the new tank today. A rock sliped....first scratch.....20180820_090731.jpg

Yikes, I always worry about accidentally dropping a rock. I’ve tapped the glass a few times >.<

Gah. I feel you on those scratches. Ive already mangled the bottom of my new tank trying to position my rocks.

Sorry to hear about losing the acaras. Would you say theyre less hardy than the run of the mill petshop EBAs out there? Im wondering if you might have had a bacterial infection. Just the heat seems unlikely but it couldve left them open to infections.

I have not had an EBA yet, seems these are weak to heat. Maybe it's just this source, inbred some maybe. Last two I had died in the run away heater, now two more to heat I would say, no other issues showing. No issues with other fish in same tank. Tank tested 0-0-10. These last two seem to be doing great. Thickening up, thier Orange seams are getting brighter, and a metallic effect. Thier poops are normal, brown non-stringy. But watching them like a hawk.

Thats interesting. Were they wild caught? Im keeping EBAs currently and they have always seemed to do ok in warm tanks. I have two little guys in quarantine/growout with some loaches atm around 86 F. Seems to be a widely accepted temp range online, anywhere from 70-77 or 78-86 depending on the source. The wild types must just be the cooler range i guess.

Maybe a big airstone next time it gets hot could help. Good luck with them. Im hoping they develop into a nice pair. Not that they arent already.
