Thanks! their growth really sucks. Earlier he grew very fast, 5" in first 3 months, now hes at 6" mark after nearly 2 months. I really wish he grows to 12" mark.

@tjw08....yours is an cyanaguttatus and mine is carpintis, two different strains of herichthys sp.
your fish has more of olive green-brown pearls(the spots on body)
mine has green-bluish colored pearls, they actually reflect green if light falls from front and blue from top...

Scratanut, your Escondido is gorgeous!! Do anyone knows how to tell the difference between a male and female? Is that a male or female?

Healthy females are a little plumpy(when compared to males), with a black blotch at the base of dorsal fin.
BTW mine is not an escondido.

You cant say that unless it is wildcaught(from a specific locaton) or from a good breeder. I got him at 2" from LFS.
 
Oh okay, I thought that was an Escondido. It looks like one :)
