They'll dig alot with the fry around. They do it to try and stir up food for the fry to much on. How old are the fry now?

If you have a pair on cons, dont worry about fry.You wil have more than you can handle in a short amount of time lol. Its fun to watch them though,i filled all my empty tanks with fry just to realize nobody will buy them. There a good clean food source for bigger cichlids ..

For some reason my male decided to turn on the female last night. Tore her tail and was keeping her locked up in a corner. Every time she moved he was back on her again. :screwy:

I figured he'd probably end up killing her (either directly or from stress) so I thought I'd show him what it's like to be picked on. I took him out and put him in the 55g with the 5" JD Male and 3.5" Female (Con is only 2.5" or so). After about an hour of the JDs chasing him around and nipping, I stuck him back in with the mom and fry and the mom started beating the crap out of him too. :ROFL:Apparently they settled it overnight cause they're swimming around like buddies again. :grinno:

My con beats the crap out of my JD. But the JD is smaller than him.

I had a female Convict mate with my 5" Texas cichlid and they both kept their tankmates to one side of the tank. i then later split them apart because i was tired of them breeding.

I've read a few stories of even 2" cons standing up to 10" oscars. They sometimes ended up as an Oscar Snack, but still. ;)

In the case last night the Con had no territory and was invading the JD's turf, so he was more in flight mode. I was actually counting on it, and I wanted the female to get more secure in her tank without the male around. It looks like it worked.

Had I dropped the JD into the con tank, I don't doubt that the cons would have beat the crap out of the JD.

I woke up this morning to about 100 eggs in the same spot as last time. The fry are only about 2 weeks and the parents have totally forgotten about them. I was amazed how many eggs it was for such a small female.

my question is will they continue to breed if i dont remove there first batch of fry or will they stop they are in a 30gl tank

They'll likely keep breeding until there's more fish than water, and then keep breeding.

If you give the growing fry enough places to hide, the parents may ignore them and keep spawning when they're ready.

whats up guys well my fry are doing pretty good and i noticed that the female con is behind a rock hiding thats where she spawned the first time shes there all the time male convict is with the fry at all time she only comes out to eat and she very colorful belly is really red fins are blue green and yellow just like the first time do u guys think she is laying eggs again
