My convict layed eggs. She's an inch long.

Your convicts will continue to spawn until a successful batch is hatched. If your female is only an inch, it may take a few "tries" for them to get it right. I have always kept convicts with several more aggressive fish, and they have been safe. The parents are threatening enough to other fish that the babies don't get eaten, yet none of my other fish have ever been harmed. If your first couple batches of eggs are not hatching, try turning up your heater one or two degrees, and maybe move your nest. I use a conch shell, which seems to work perfectly. The parents will keep their babies safe by scooping them into their mouth and putting them back out of harms way. I have never separated my babies. They breed like rabbits in my 75 with aggressive cichlids....
