I made this stand with 12 4x4s at a 3 foot length. Lots of metal brackets were used as well as 3 1/2 deck screws, and construction glue. Let me know if you find any flaws in my design.

The 2x4s are pink, the 4x4s are gray.
My tank is 240, 96x24x24, dimensions of stand are just an inch bigger in every direction.

dmopar74, are you implying that i overbuilt this stand?

cuz i was thinking of putting 2 to 4 more 4x4s on it, but if it's good already then i'll just leave it.

awesome!

Actually, I just added two 2x4s to both sides of the middle 4x4s. Hopefully adding more structural integrity.

The whole thing cost $90. Went to Home Depot and Lowe's more than 8 times in a weekend.

I'm letting the tank rest on the 4x4s, and I always hear people talking about don't put the weight on the screws, I'm sure there is no weight on the screws but I'm not a carpenter so I don't know, is that a problem?

If the tank base frame sits on the 2x4's then how are the 2x4's attached to the 4x4's? The screws or bolts that join the 2x4's and 4x4's will carry all the weight. You need bracing between the top and bottom 2x4 frames.

You can see how I remedied the same problem on my 1st stand. Kinda overkill but it holds well.
