:iagree: No TRUE DIY'er would ever made a statement like that..(chearer to buy it...) ...I have half a mind to revoke your membership card...

Well....you're both wrong....and right!
A true DIY'er would say "I made that...AND it was cheaper!"

A true DIY'er would say "I made that and it's built RIGHT" ;)

A true DIY'er doesn't care what you guys have to say about it and just enjoys what they do regardless of if it's built right (they learn for next time) cost less, or any other reason that can be brought up on this board or any other. If you beleive that you have something of VALUE to contribute to their project then great if not leave your coments to yourself and go DIY for your own reasons which are best for you.

Good on ya for your project JEAE21

Hope it brings you lots of pleasure to work on and gives you a great sence of pride to see it holding your tank for years to come.

Those who complain about someones choice in doing their own project and having the balls to post it for others to see should make sure that they first have the balls to do something of their own and realize that it was words of encouragement that made you continue to do so in a public forum and not being flamed for doing something which you may not have done yourself.... for all of those who think that what they have done is "All that... and a bag of chips" look at that project again and realize that someone out there thinks it's a pile of steaming crap that is good for nothing, but hey if you like it ... thats all that counts

that's BS.lol i bought my wood for 3digits.
are we talking about a "nice wood stand" for aquariums?

Hate to burst yer bubble, but yeah i know of Southern Lumber. And you got screwed on yer price of wood. I only go to southeren lumber if im an building something like completey superb. a nice 2x4 of doug fir from home deopt would have been fine to and you can get a 12ft section fer 4 bucks. So yeah ya did get screwed on the lumber cost. Hell i spent a little more dinero on my lumber for the dual tank stand im building right now, and thats probably about 3 times as much wood as you bought. once i get the stainin and sealing complete its gunna look awsome.(I'll be posting a thread with my diy project, soon probably about a week, or 2)

A TRUE DIY'er says "Yeah, I made that. Yeah, It was cheaper. Yeah, It looks as good or better than bought. Yeah, It's stronger." And MOST importantly, "Yeah, I made that and YOU CAN'T !!!!!. And Yeah !!, you can't buy it either.
Keep building so others may envy.
