how can we give credit to the fact that he said he built a stand? after racking up thousands of posts in a matter of a couple months asking some of the most basic things over and over has given most of us a sense that he can barely tie his shoes by himself, so when he posts pics of a couple of boards on the ground and then a day or 2 later says how he has built a really nice stand we would like to see it. i do agree i shouldnt have ripped on him about how much the wood cost and i appologize for that, but alot of us have been more than patient with him and his barage of questions, and would like to atleast see if he has learned anything at all. it would be nice to see him give back to MFK by maybe trying to answer other people questions for once, and right now the easiet way for him to do that would to atleast show his wonderfull stand.

Isn't that the point of forums... to ask questions and to learn from others... I agree that some people need to give back to the forums that they belong to, but can you blame him for backing off after the ***** storm that some members here have brought on. We all have different levels of knowledge and at one time you used to know nothing about keeping fish, some people learn by searching out answers and others learn by asking.

Personaly I don't think your doing anyone any favors by thinking that your owed anything from anyone on here. There are thousands of people whom lurk around this board and learn from the posts and never ever show anything that they have done, and I'm sure some of those thousands don't post because of just these types of reasons, fear that someone will think that they are stupid for asking a question or because of something that they made and decided to show.

Lets say that you go to work and mention that you built your own we'll say Shed for the sake of this example... and all the guys at work start ripping on you about how HD is selling a pre-fab thats twice the size and half the cost... how egar would you be to invite them over to show them your work... you might still do it if you have the confidence in yourself to say that your work quality is better than the pre-fab but I doubt that you would go in bragging about your next project... if someone kills your confidence they remember.

We shouldn't be here judging on if the stand has been completed or not .. just that there was an attempt made! The old saying goes "you catch more flies with honey" seems to be the best way to look at this. Had everyone just been nice about things I'm certain that we would be viewing a very nice stand instead of overriding the thread about basic manners in a public forum.

Personally I couldn't care less if he finished the stand or not. He is the one who started this thread and set it up in article form, step by step process with links to picks. I mearly suggested he take a couple of minutes to post pics instead of the links, to make for a better read. His reply was that it was to hard for him and it would be easier for the members to "JUST click the links". After showing that lack of gratitude for all the members who have both helped and defended his sometime ridiculous questions, I myself will not help or defend this member no longer.

The reasons forums like this work is from members contributions, he started the thread the right way but is just too lazy to give a...:lipsseale

Ever stop to think that he didn't want to deal with people telling him to resize his photos not everyone is computer friendly thats not a lack of gratitude as you call it but perhaps a lack of software or knowledge in posting pics...the only ones that are lazy are those who refuse to simply click a link...it's YOUR shortfall for not working with someone whom is trying to do exactly as you would like ... CONTRIBUTE!!!

It's amazing how quickly some people forget that they once didn't know everything.. oh wait ... they still don't.

Should I start flaming people for bragging about their post count and start to reveiw those posts to see how many questions or comments that they have made I would feel are ridiculous, I can assure you that I know a hell of a lot more about certian things than you do... but the difference is that I wouldn't call your questions ridiculous or shun you for your format in posting. I actually had very little issue with your "request" of him since it is actually a reasonable one and I had thought the same thing... but ultimatly it is his choice to post his pics via links if he so desires.

You and everyone else that continue to try to bash this thread are simply showing your own problems with being lazy and only interested in pictures... if you would like to see pictures then make sure you see that they are attached BEFORE opening the thread unless your to lazy to look for the paperclip which indicates the fact that there are in fact attachments to the thread... Hell you don't even have to open the thread to see the pictures... click on the paperclip and it will show you a list of all the pics attached... open eachone (Oh wait... that would mean more clicks by your lazy ***) Truthfully though ... unless you can be HELPFUL keep quite and move on to something that you can in fact be helpful with ... I mean you have personally had some posts that are just a waste of internet resources... http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100072
just as an example... and I've yet to figure out what the Rockies have to do with MFK but I didn't flame your posts now did I?

:D have a good day and happy posting

Obviously, from your comments below, you have done this. As for bragging about my post count, I guess I need to update my sig:grinno:

I think if you were to put a little more effort into your quest, you could find something other then threads I started in the LOUNGE:screwy:

The Lounge (24 Viewing)
Discussion of ANYTHING non-fish related. NOTE: This section doesn't accumulate towards your post count.

LOL Gee your quick, But you still miss the point that it has nothing to do with anything and I didn't flame you for being out of my interest and a wasted click IMO. Simply posting is your right even if someone else doesn't like it ... it's their choice to read it or not. As for my "quest" LMAO Please don't get the impression that your bad choices would get much attention from me, I have plenty of real issues to deal with on a regular basis and you simply don't fall into that field for me. I do however hate to see someone being picked on when they are trying to do their best (even if it's not up to par with something that someone else could do).

If you'd like to battle then you need to rethink why your in the forum and let those who want to learn, and teach others what they know do the posting.

I come here just as I assume you do, to further my love of fish keeping and to get ideas and to help those who don't know about things which I have learned. Take away the friendly nature of the forums and take away a part of something that someone loves... is that REALLY why we are here?

Umm.............
WOW !!! :eek::eek:

I support DIY 100%, whether the OP asks 100 questions, post pics., links, or nothing at all. Whatever. I expect nothing in return for my thoughts/opinions. If the folks that reply to threads like this are doing it for some sort of twisted "you owe me" mentality, then they would indeed be better off giving no help or opinions at all.
Venturing everything does not automatically ensure gaining squat, even more so on the net.
I personally feel obligated to thank everyone that tries to help, posts opinions, etc. to my sometimes ignorant questions, but not all people feel the same.
If the OP wants to show his thanks by posting a link, what's the issue.
A damn simple click on the link will give you what you feel you are owed for the help, will it not.
If that's not "instant" gratification for your efforts, don't make one to begin with jeez.
I've got a thread going, that if I decide to start the project, I'll take lots of pics. from start to finish. I'll most likely upload them once to my host site, and simply post here that updates are available, instead of hogging the thread with pics.
Will I also be considered an inconsiderate @@@hole by doing that?
If so, nevermind needing/wanting opinions from those that will feel like I "owe" them something as petty as a picture versus a link to the same picture.

ok, i know jeae21 catches ALOT of hell on this board--i have read alot of his questions in the past(and i admit, some of them are doozies). for some of us that have had fish for years, these may come across as retarded questions.. but he is asking because he truly doesnt know the answer.
I myself have tried to direct him to get books and read up on what he stocks and to just do general research on the net, but he finds it easier to just get answers here i guess.I get the impression that he comes here because he has noone else to ask (in real life),and he gets the BEST answers on this forum(take that as a compliment guys!)--amid the sometimes open hostility he receives.
I admit, his reply wasnt the friendliest, but i think its out of frusteration that he was excited that he was doing something he felt was cool (and had taken one more step to being a true monster keeper and do it yourselfer!)--and wanted praise from everyone here, and instead he got snapped at.
I remember being new and in his shoes, and i have alot of patience (i work on a psych ward) so i guess i just feel bad for him sometimes for the crap he takes, and he still keeps coming back with more questions... if i were him, i wouldve left this forum long ago.. i just feel that if someone doesnt like his questions, or thinks he is stupid, then simply dont reply to his posts--just skip over them.
jeae21--like ive said before--keep asking questions, keep researching and sharing with us, and well share with you--please post your pics because we want to see what you did!!

now-i think what we really need is to all hold hands in a circle and sing "Coombaya" lol

kidding
