thx 2 everyone else. I'll keep updating every inch or so of growth or if there's a significant event. what's the best temp when they're this size? I have them by themselves so I'm not worried about other fish.

30 degrees celcius.

the one in question died over night :( It looked fine last night and was eating, but I found it stuck to the filter inlet this morning. I have no idea what happened, but it never seemed as strong as the tem. I will go get a couple more.

Man that sucks bro. I wish he had a made it so we could see with 100% CEARTAINTY what he was. But hopefully you get some new Sp. in there with out a doubt. ;) Let me know what store you hit and what they got in there. Pm me. ANd I got your other Pm Thanks.

I'm just gonna get a couple of the same from Fish Den cuz I wanna see what the heck they are, too. IDK of anyone else that has any right now.

I'm not too worried about it since I new they were super fragile at this size and it wasn't much moolah.

I'll lyk what I get.

Sweet. Don't feel to bad about loosing them cause when I seen how small they were the size of they are, I knew it wasn't going to be easy either way. But at least you got the right idea. Get back in the game and get another one. I do believe there Tem's. But you know they don't know what they got. Most LFS don't.

might want to get a hunk o foam to put over the filter inlet while they are very tiny.. and i would add a foam filter with an airstone for more surface aggitation = more oxygen and extra filtration never hurts.

well that sucks.
unfortunatly with cichla,i suspect that lil ones have internal parasites that tend to strike them later.
ive had many cichla eat well and die in the same week i get them.

went and got 2 more of the questionable ones today and they had 1/4" guppies there, so I got a couple dozen. I raised the temp and put foam on the filter inlet, just have to add oxygen and make sure the pH is low enough.

the tem and one of the new ones at quite a few, but the other one didn't eat any. i hope it comes around. anyway, here are a couple craptastic pix.

nice pbass if you don't already know these guys are very sensitive to sporadic water changes i do 25% water changes every two weeks make sure to siphon out waste and dirt during the 25% water change, and don't pour in the new water all at once ease it and they should be fine!:D
