My First Monster Tank. . . . .

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
. . .And I have no idea how to stock it. I was going to be getting a 75 gallon tank from my friend, but instead my uncle gave me a much better deal. He has 96"x36"x36" (Little over 500 gal) tank that he hasn't used in over a year, and he will give it to me as long as I take it from his house.

It's going to be a bit of a chore to get in my house but once it's set up, I have no idea what to stock it with. Can anyone give me some stocking suggestions as I am absolutely stumped?

Definately add an arowana, large bichirs, pbass, gars and payaras!

What does it have as far as holes for the overflows? What was it used for before? I'm assuming based on the wood trim its glass not acrylic

There are four holes at the bottom of the tank and one on each side toward the top. It was used for a saltwater tank by my uncle. It's glass on the front side, and wood on the other sides.

So the stock list is looking something like this:

CICHLIDS:

5 Mono P Bass
1 Red Bay Snook
1 Red Head Cichlid
2 Oscars (1 Albino 1 Tiger)
2 KKP

BOTTOM:
1 Royal Pleco
1 Gold Nugget
1 Scarlet

Let me know what you think.

Ah I remember when I Made a post like this. Only 500g is true monster.

Layer your tank... That is what I did and I have no regrets. Fish that swim up top, middle, and lurkers.
