My fish room renovation project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok so here are the tanks. My 100 tanks, the top tank houses most of my oldest fish. They survived college with me and are real tanks. The top tank houses a Ctenochromis horei, Tropheus duboisi, OB Peacock, Haplochromis obliquidens, Green severum, Flying fox, synodontis feather fin, and Cyphotilapia frontosa. the bag floating is a Polypterus ornatipinnis I believe. The bottom tank is 5 Neolamprologus tretocephalus, five OB peacocks, five Thick skin haps, five mysterious shell dwellers, four red empress, and four z-rock.

The 40 gallon tanks are less densely populated. The top tank is the remnants of my planted tank. It has 4 frontosa, 6 compressiceps, 4 OB peacock, a miscellaneous shell dweller, 6-12 baby bristlenose plecos. The plants are java fern, anubis, and crypts. The bottom tank contains 10 duboisi and 4 demasoni.

I have another 40 and 30 hex setup as quarantine tanks with some geohphagus and another kirbensis male hanging out waiting to get into the mix.

In the next six months I plan to move and I have 4 more 75 gallon tanks and 2 more 125 gallon tanks in storage waiting to get setup. I can't wait for this to happen and to post it up here for you guys.

hope you enjoyed this adventure. I know I don't have many, ok any, monster fish but I thought you'd like it anyway.

@pacu mom > Thanks for your help I've always wanted to post up my projects. This one kinda encompasses allot of projects, about a dozen I'd say in total. But really I couldn't have done it without my best friend Joe and my Dad. Also my parents putting up with 500 gallons of aquarium running in their basement is a nice thank you for my work on their renovation.

@snapinturtle > I've wanted to do something on this scale or larger for some time. The 6 20 gallons will be up before I move because our females are spawning like mad we've lost a couple dozen batches already and my friend Joe couldn't wait so we ordered sponge filters and heaters last Friday!

@fishjude78 > Thanks so much, but you posted before the finished pictures! :headbang2
Only problem is its underground I feel kinda cut off from the world in a reclusive way. I love basements but I also don't like life passing me by. In reality this basement is a stepping stone to the place I'm gonna live next! I hope to really impress you with my next project. And this time to document it better and keep the lens clean.

I feel the same way allot of people on these forums feel. May my project inspire people to provide better living conditions for their fish. I'm just sad my G. tile didn't live to stretch out in the new 100 breeder his former tank mates are enjoying. Here is a picture of him(and a little thing I wrote about having him as long as I did) he was my most prized fish for the over 3 years until his untimely death during the middle of this project.

Almost forgot, you may have noticed the phantom 50 gallon tank back by my desk, here he is, ares, my Columbian red tailed boa.

I hope this project was right for this forum, it was my best guess since the only really fish related thing I built was the stands. I hope to elaborate on there construction when I move and can take better pictures again.

Nice job! So you lost your bedroom but basically got a huge basement bedroom/sitting room in it's place....that's a real upgrade! Your tanks look great.

Thanks pacu mom. I enjoy it allot. A very nice place to chill and entertain people. I hope to post up new pictures of my Bichir since you guys saw me floating him in the one tank shots. Only monster fish I got so I feel he has a special place on this forum thread.

I gotta give more props to my Best friend Joe me and him went in equal on the cost of everything and this definitely wouldn't have happened without him he was the inspiration. The two weekends that it took to build all 3 stands would have taken over a month and not gotten finished because of weather conditions (we worked outside). Any way thanks Joe!
