Fantastic thread! May your gar lives on for many many more years.
The new tank looks dope.... Do take some pics when you are done with the black background and your gar settled in the new tank. Kudos!

Thanks! Man, my RO unit takes forever..haha. I'm ready to get everyone moved in. I am going to pick up some pool filter sand tomorrow and get that rinsed and in place. My goal is to have them in the tank by tomorrow evening. I'll see how much water fills tonight.

I got my filter pads all set up in the sump. I have to pick up a filter sock tomorrow for drain #3.

I have 3 orino and 2 mono cichla coming within the next week or so. Going to grow them out in my 75, then into the 300. Can't wait to see the gar in the 300. I may order another gar as well. I would love to find a true spotted somewhere.

Thanks. Need to get the sand in and some driftwood. He looks so small now. ...haha. Good color looks like it did 10 years ago

I haven't gotten the heaters figured out yet. I had 2 300w eheim , but that never got it above 72 so i added an additional finnex 300w. If that doesn't work, I'll remove them all and get a single 1000w.

Always have a back up heater just in case. A 100 watt and a 300 watt would be a good option. You plan on adding any plants?

Good idea. Maybe a few live floating plants, but I have several lrg plastic plants. I actually got them at Michael's. So much cheaper than ones "made" for aquariums and a good variety. I had them in before, and I had no issues.

I need to start and finish building a canopy for my 125 gallon saltwater. Hoping to get that done this week. Never done it before. Just need a way to hang my ebay led lights. Speaking of lights, I am thinking of using beamswork led lights for the 300. Still have some looking to do. I don't need to spend a fortune on radion or kessel lighting for this tank. Just want it to look nice and be functional.
