My gar broke its back help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update: the gar hasn’t eaten since I last posted (almost a month). It was eating when it first broke its back but afterwards it stopped even after I tried everything. I tried live feeders, seafood and pellets but it wouldn’t eat. How long can gars survive without food? I’m getting worried it would die of starvation.

Starting to swim again and today it finally ate a piece of prawn after almost 2 months. Making a good recovery. Have a huge sense of relief ?

been a long time since I updated. Since the last I posted, it hasn’t been doing well. The day it ate a prawn which was 2months++ back, it hasn’t eaten again ?. I thought it would make a good recovery from then but it still hasn’t. I’m surprised it’s even alive after not eating for so long. Not sure what I should do next

Things don’t seem to be going well. I’ve noticed that whenever it tries to swim and get air, it’s head shakes quite a lot. It sits at the bottom of the tank 99% of the time, coughing a lot. If things don’t get better by the end of the month, I may just end it’s suffering by euthanizing it.
