My Herichthys Carpintis jornal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well these PTC are some clever fellows. Mine learned how to catch. He watches me take a step or so back from the tank. I then toss in a single Bug Bites pellets and he times it so he strikes just as it hits the water. 20190117_190448.jpg
I think I got carried away...

Beautiful pics, what kinda fish is in the second picture, the silver one with the orange & black stripped tail? I've been wanting to do some research on them but never knew their name,

It's a "Flagtail Prochilodus"
Semaprochilodus taeniurus is the scientific name.
I thought they got to the 12in mark and would be ok in a 125. Apparently they get to 18, so going to have to rehome mine.

The deal behind all the tank changes was to see if Casper would live with well...anything. It was all a big nope.
First swaped tanks with Casper and Thor. To see if Casper would tolerate living with any of the catfish, Betsie, or the PTC. Within hours all the fish got moved out. Casper was a methodical relentless ***hat and ended up alone in the planted tank. So I tried Thor and Casper, another nope. Casper didn't start fights but sure finished them. So Thor got moved back in with all the extras and Goldie. By day three Thor was relentlessly chasing her so Goldie went back in with her hubby Casper. That's actually going good. Built her a cave Casper can't get into, so she has a safe hide from his shenanigans.
