My High Back Golden Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's better to move him to a bigger grow out tank. IMO, a bigger tank has more stable water parameters.

What 'nid' said is a fact. All the Asian aros are of the genre 'Scleropages Formusus' but they exist in different color varities originating in different localities. I have also heard RTG originate from Kalimantan rivers in Indonesia, and the XB from Malaysia thus the famous name ' Malaysian Bluebase XB'.

But they are all of the same genre. I have kept aros (Panda Gold, Panda Supreme, QH HBRTG) from Panda farm and QH farm. Different farms have different brandings and that will be depicted on the certs.
In the 90's so many farms sprung up all over the place in Singapore/Indonesia/Malaysia. And another fact, Singapore farm was the 1st to successfully breed Asian aros and made it a commercial success, thus CITES easing on the 'endangered species list'.

Do not get too caught up with the branding, Buy the aro you can afford and nourish him well. Eventually it will pay you good dividends and you will get to enjoy the magnificent view your aro will portray, be it RTG, HBRTG or HBG etc!

He's around 6-7".The first week i feed him live feed(platy) I always feed live first because the dealers don't feed it properly as they sell large quantities of arowana's daily,Also when i receive the fish it was in the same packet for 2 days as thats the travel time from his place to mine. When i get the fish it will be stressed and also very thin so live is something it readily excepts and it offers maximum growth. The place where i buy platy from are home bred i also quarantine for 5 days so i have never had a parasite problem. After a week then i tried feeding hikari but it dint eat it.So what i do is i stuff Market Prawns with hikari so it gets the required nutrients and Hikari Food sticks contains cerataniods which is very good for improving gold colouration

There is also commercial breeding of asian arowanas in India...

Its a good idea,But right now its a bare bottom and its an imported tank so the base in black in color to remove it is going to be hassle.I can jus put white sand or gravel

I'd suggest that you dont put sand nor pebbles in the tank. Sometimes when food falls to the bottom, they'll swim down and swallow up the food along with sand/pebble which will most likely harm them
