This is beautiful Ken
I. Might have said this before, but I think I am going to say again, this pond is what got me. Interested in tors.

They are all pretty big fellas there, how big are those Neolissochilus Hexagonolepis is one of them having a deformed head.

How. Is the growth compared between the neo and the tor putitora.

Have you ever seen tor yingjiangensis up for sale.
Thanks. I find not too people are in to tors.

I had that Neo Hex with the funny face from the beginning. It came mixed in a batch of 50 when imported small. I have no idea whether it is a defect or a species of it's own. He is the biggest Neo Hex in the pond pushing 30". The neos are pigs and bullies compared to the putitora. The putitoras are catching up in size and are much more colorful. Both are very easy fish to keep. I don't pay much attention to them.

As for other types of tors, I have not kept a look out.

After seeing your tor tank, I was thinking about doing the same.

Good looking! what happened to the Pheonix barbs ?
It was skinned alive by the Indians. When the mahseers out grew the barbs they all ganged up on it. They took turns nipping at it till more than 50% of the skin was hanging. I thought it was caused by a wild animal but saw it happen to the second one. It was too late. I really miss the bright colors.

Breeding colors?
No.

What I've noticed is fish show different colors as the water temperature changes.
Cold = dark colors
Warm = light and bright colors

And on a side note, their appetite changes.
Cold = 22 lbs of food in three months
Warm = 22 lbs/month

Mechanical filter cleaning changes.
Cold = Wash once in two months
Warm = Wash every week

Beautiful pond and fish.

You should get some Neolissochilus waynaadensis, their colors between end of summer and beginning of monsoon are stunning.

Jib, the ID of mahseers are so confusing to me. Partly because Google has many of them misidentified.
They are eating so aggressively during the Summer that I have to add supplements used for kois to prevent fatty liver and big belly. If I feed less they are even move aggressive. Growth is very noticeable this Summer. Putitora head shape is very distinct now. Finely.

Thanks for the update, Ken. They're gorgeous!
Thanks JL. Do you still have your batch from Wes?
