I agree with the moving by hand plan. But get some fish handling gloves. you can get them at walmort for like 15 bucks. They will protect your hands from the spikes. I would grab it by the tail first and then grab its head, avoid grabbit the middle of its body because they have a nasty little trick I learned about 1st hand. Theyll try to bend their body and retract their pec fins with force, crushing your fingers between their body spikes and the spikes on the inside of their fins. I experienced this when moving my 10 inch niger, and that already hurt like hell. I dont even wanna know what a 30inch can do. And do not be fooled, you might grab a hold of him with relative ease while hes in the water, the second you lift him hell probably flip out. I netted mine so easily, it didnt do anything, so then i figured owell i might aswell grab it, n then 10 seconds later my finger was bleeding.
try to get a video cam n put it on a stand while you are taking it out of the tank. Not that i expect it, but it would be hilarious to see a monster fish like that freak out n tail slap you right in the head
