My Monster catfish found a new home!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We successfully took our catfish to the zoo yesterday. I didn’t think we would ever get him out of the tank though! We drained half of the water in the tank, and then tried to use a pillowcase to lift him out with. It was easy to get the pillowcase underneath him, but as soon as we lifted him out of the water he freaked out! We tried that a couple times with no success. Then we tried using a laundry basket to scoop him out with – that didn’t work either… So we finally got a big beach towel and wrapped him up in it and he felt secure enough that time and didn’t freak out when we lifted him out. It was quite an ordeal though…
We took him to the zoo’s new aquatic quarantine facility. There wasn’t too much in there but we did get to look around. They had some piranha fry! They were teeny tiny so I didn’t even try to take a pic of them.
Our fish will be in quarantine for about a month, and then he should go on display. So we plan on going back in a couple of months to go see him. The fish guy was pretty excited to get him because he has been trying to get one of these for a while. So it is good for everybody J

Glad all went ok, its a real beast of a fish. Thats why i suggested a large pipe to lift the fish out in, its cant thrash about the same and damage itself and the very large pec's and thorny scutes on these large dorad's could do some major damage to us too. Anyway it all worked out in the end. :)

Awesome! I bet he'll be happy in his new home :D I second Basses excitement for pics in a month or two!

You did it! Congrats ^^

PS: thankfully i would not need to move my RTCs for awhile - if ever

Glad it turned out well! good work!
