Nine days ago I took a molestated Oscar home, and placed her by my breeding couple.
And now they're friends.
The upper one is the rescued one.

These are the first pics she hasn't got those stressed eyes anymore.
She could be a he, I noticed.

cool, good job on the rescue, im surprised that if the others are a pair that they accepted another O in the tank but thats AWESOME if it all works out :) love the set-up!!

That's great they're not picking on the new one-you really lucked out. I guess someone up there is looking out for the Oscar you took in :-)

What was harassing the poor oscar?

Former owner, bad feeding, tiny tank, violent tenants.

My LFS got him back with a couple of Green Terrors, a Channa Micropeltes (~17"), 3 full grown Nattereri's
and some more.
My guess is he hasn't lived with the Piranhas, but the first few days at my place he kept his mouth wide open.
Stressed out. My other O's were bit amused bout it.

Now it seems he's gonna pair up with the big mama, and the albino male is gonna be single. All in good understanding.
The albino was also a rescue. I took him and his friend in when they were more battered then this new one.
And see how resilient they are, the albino has became a big guy.
I have to keep my eyes on them, but I don't have other restrictions.
All my time (and money) is for the fish.
And I tend to keep it that way.
I love O's.

Some pics from today:

awwwww great save, thats great they are still getting along so amicably, i know when i first got my robertsoni he was so super skittish and really beat up, would barely eat and when he did it consisted of a dart to the top, grab pellet and dart back under log as fast as he could before anyone could see him, i think he still thought the red devils/wild GTs/freddy and other really agressive cichlids he was being kept with at the lfs were going to come and beat him up for trying to eat :( hes pretty much healed now but it did take him several weeks to calm down and come out to eat when i was by the tank, its good to see your guy is adjusting quicker than that though i guess it is an oscar lol, not much can keep their spirits down for long lol

Good job on the rescue. That is great the pair took him in. Just keep an eye on the new one as he feels more established and wants to get territorial. My two oldest oscars would always take in the new tank mate as there own and keep others away if needed. They are truely amazing creatures. How big is you tank if I may ask?

exactly Sarah88!

Its great to see their intelligence, personalities and social behaviour.
Goes for all big Cichlids (and maybe all animals).

Purely coincidence I met the former owner of my mistreated albino.
I met him at my LFS.
Was an unreal conversation in wich I tried to get as much of information
without becoming violent.
I did not ever met anyone more confiused how to care for life.

Cant wait to place the fourth in the (here it is) 200g.
He/she's still too small. Gonna take a year. :nilly:

Ps: molested, not sexual but physical abused. Battered 's what I ment.
(I'm Dutch and grievous not very intelligent).
