55gals is too small, even at this size. good to hear that he has an upgrade on the way. still seems too small thou. a staple diet of crickets? is that enough nutrition?

No.

he's plump and fat! he gets his nutrition from the cichlid gold and bio-gold. but he's somewhat spoiled! he mostly prefers live bait. like feeder ghost shrimp.

throw's me for a loop too! one day a giant moth flew in the house and every since he's had a taste for blood. raised him on flakes and spirilna pellet's...then it was cichlid gold, the large pellets. now i have a 30 gallon tank with crickets mulyiplying in it. very teadious work. have to seperate the young from the adults. the adults will eat the young. he will eat grapes and peas to. not to crazy about the peas, cause of the husk's floating around. I have to mix his diet up, because if I dont the water will get hazy and murky from those red pellets. same goes for the cichlid staple, murky green.

he is a sweet fish... and beautiful red coloring..looks so healthy.:D mine loved zucchini and small raw pieces of carrots and algae wafers and pellets.... since pacu are vegetarians... they love all veggies.. very little protein..

Beautiful pacu! :)

I got a Pacu in my tank. Currently... he is housed in 125 gallons and it still much too small for him. The Pacu is now 36" long. He is big. I would need to get 300 gallons for him. So keep in mind.... you might want to get much bigger tank if you want to keep a pacu.
