My dad got me my first 10 gallon when I was 6. Which I still have. Since my cats both passed away last year :( one had kidney failure the other a blood clot in his heart. And my parents told me no more "uncaged pets" which seemed to exclude everything but Fish... :screwy:

my 40 gallon and 10 gallon in my room magically multiplied.... The ten is on a iron double tank stand.. so naturally I set-up another ten... Then I went exploreing the dark dungeon of the basement for old pet stuff. Came up with 2 20 gallons and a stand... those soon had filters and where running.... The 37 was perfect for those Angels my friend wanted to get rid of after I put my baby koi outside for the year....

I live in the top level of the house so I had 2 rules. no fishtanks larger then 40 gallons.. and no fishtanks outside my room unless otherwise negotiated...

Good thing my room is big... and my father has really taken a likeing to my fire eels.:naughty:

He's talking about finishing the basement. And I'm working on getting my fishroom, and takeing a stab at my first homebuilt :headbang2

My mom is use to my dad's fishtanks in the past so mine don't phase her... only she has to know what i'm sneaking up to my room. She's like " What do you have now?" *sigh* "Get outta here..."

hehehe

I love this hobby!

i find fish tanks that she likes, then find it really cheap, then go and have a look, then pout down a deposit....the day we go to pick it up she says no i dont want it  i go in to a sulk and slam door and be nasty and dont cook dinner, or do housework etc. yes i am a 22year old mother lol but il happily make my mum realise she has done wrong. although she is slightly coming round to the idea of garage conversion to just a big pond lol

See, different with me its the boyfriend!
Trying to convince him to let me get a 240g tank now....

Its in the working... persistence is key!

im 19 and live at home and dont realy work luckily i have parents who like fish and dont mind spending the money my dad got my mom her first freshwater when i as about 4 it later had to get taken down for the new couch but about 8 years later my mom got a glimps at koi so thats when it all started 3 huge ponds later tons of breeder tanks and all of my saltwater iv got a 450 gallom shark and ray pond inside a 210 125 28 nano and a 3 gallon nano 10 gallon freshwater 125 freshwater and that dosnt count all the emptys iv got too maney to count series i tryed im always planning new builds iv probobly had a new builds going for the last 6 years i got lucky with the parents and the girl friend i just started her a 10 gallon freshwater the parents dont somplain to much they do some times but thats parents the key is just get them into it with small ones make them do some of the fun stuff and next thing you know you have got thousnands of gallons hundreds of fish ad they love them just has much as you do lol

With me, its

Me: Mom can i get this fish?
Mom: Sure.
Me: Mom its getting too big for the tank, I need a 37 gallon
Mom: No you have to many
Me: Ill take my old one down (which i don't)
Mom:Fine...
Me: The tank looks empty can i get another one?
Mom: Sigh... fine...
Me: YAY!
2 weeks later

Me: Mom the fish had 50 babies
Mom: Aww how cute.

2 weeks later

Me: mom the babies are out growing they're tank, we need to get a bigger one or they will stress out and die.
Mom: How big?
Me:55 gallons.
Mom: Fine but you need to take down your last one (which i dont)
Me: Ok.

And to this day, i have used this same method to over time accumulate 4 10 gallons 2 30 gallons 2 47 gallons 3 55 gallons 2 120 gallons and 1 400 gallon.

Life is sweet.
