This species is found in the Yangtze River in China. The locals raise them as food.

I thought from reading the first post local people havnt seen this fish for 2-5 years? + fisherman have never seen this fish? But its being raised for food? anyways that's a nice feeder eating loach

they're not raised for food, where did you gather that from? I spoke to the locals, they don't usually eat this fish, there are other fish better eating than this.

Some fisherman have seen them in the past, some have not. Most of the so called breeding projects were fake, just people pulling them from the river and getting government grants for their breeding efforts, most failed,as you can see there are none on the market, period.
