My Rays Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your golds DO NOT need 24/7 lighting. If you're in Asia, hobbyist tan their reds 24/7 to achieve coloration quicker than letting it color naturally. I personally don't believe in tanning and allow my aro's to color naturally. As all aros grow, their colors will come out with proper care. This said, ditch your habit of 24/7 lighting. There will be zero difference between 8hrs and 24/7 in terms on color or shine. Unless your goal is to achieve golden heads, but you need to start that from a young age and with lower water level. Even then it's not worth stressing your aro's to achieve basically nothing at this point. Yeah they'll survive but will live a stressed out life while in your care. Especially those rays with 24/7 lighting. Hopefully you'll reply back saying you changed it to 8rs.

Unfortunately there is another "reason" it's common to light arow tanks 24/7 in Asia. Many believe that it stresses the fish out when lights turn on and off, which can be true with a new fish, but as we know they get adjusted quickly. My silver used to panick when his light went off, but I worked around it buy turning lights off in stages (including other lights in the room) now he's fine. I can turn out all the lights at once and he's ok with it.

i disagree, i have encountered my aro jumping around in darkness or when i switch on the light.... in fact after 1 night when i off the light and it is pitch dark, my tank has dark oyama all around except for the front, he started hiding till now... it has been 1 month.... i now keep the light on during the night.

thanks guys for the comments..

about the light on partially or full hours, im not decide it.
still need to modified my filtration first, and i have a question.
i had buying ss 304L wire mesh 325 for changed mechanical filter used sieve with this mesh,
but not fancy model, i just make something like cage, the frame cage using ss 304 steel plate size 3mm x 25mm, the joint between end of the plate is welded.

question is, what is side effect the welding with water quality on long term, is it releasing any harmfull chemical/thing into water guys ?

Being it is stainless steel, I'd think it will be ok. The weld stainless also?

yes its ss,
but i changing it with a plastic container for sure, ss frame absolutely useless, just become money wasted..
and the wire mesh, has been changed too with mesh 300 because i was try the mesh 325, water passing from it is too slow,
