you guys are noobs? arowanas develop drop eye not because of feeders....that happens naturally because they do eat smaller fishes in the wild...the drop eye comes from the fish looking down to find food...sometimes if you feed the fish and shrimp or something falls down..then they have to go down to look for it....try floating pellets, or try to get your fish to eat it and don't leave any food on the bottom...i have three over 28 inches...and never had a problem with drop eye...

btw feeders dont make aros get DE and they dont get DE by eating off the bottom or looking down o.o my aros always do that and never get DE and there is no exact proved reason for DE,but most ppl think head trauma or genetics

i think its head trauma rather then genetics only because wen my arow jumped out and he hit his head on the left side after a day or so he developed ed only on the left eye

I dont know how to prevent it. I try to keep the water crystal clear. I feed it shrimp and keep the temp at 82. And it still is developing de in its right eye:irked: What can be done? It was perfect at one point.
There is no known way to prevent it. I currently own a 10 inch silver that has had drop eye since it was about 6 inches, and I've always fed it a good, varied diet, so it definitely isn't just caused by the diet IME, and I can't think of anything else that could have caused it, so my guess is that it's some kind of genetic defect, but IDK. But anyway, you have a very nice aro. I can't wait until mine gets big.:D

very nice!!

nice aro! most i have seen in captivity have DE. like someone stated, floating pellets, floating fake plants. an aro in a tank doesnt really look up for any reason, in the wild they are always looking up to get bugs, birds-heck, anything that is above the water. they are phenomenal jumpers.

Are YOU a noob? LOL. So Mr. Pro, I've fed all my aros with sinking foods and pellets, and most of them never had DE. How do you explain that? Any scientific proof to back your statement up? You're talking as if its a proven fact. Any scientific reports? If you cant find one, then its what we call UNCONFIRMED. Don't assume your opinion is a fact if you have no proof to back it up...How many aros have you even kept before to be calling us noobs? Lets see a picture of these 3 perfect aros with no DE. So Mr. Pro, Im guessing you can also tell me how I can sex and breed aros in my own home? Please enlighten me.
