Nice Silver Aro! Ya dunno how to prevent the DE with silvers. Seems common with silvers in captivity. 2/3 of my silver Aros developed DE at 13", both of them now are pushing 16". Strangely the smallest one which is 14" has not got DE and I hope it stays that way. I try to feed less fatty foods and stay away from feeders/anything live or even use to be live to prevent DE. I feed my Aros Hikari pellets daily and market prawns 3 times a week. I wonder if fed just Hikari Pellets would prevent DE?
Ya know, I do feed it feeders once a week. the rest of the days freeze dried shrimp. And market shrimps like for salads. I 'll switch over to a strict diet excluding feeders then. I hate it cause it takes away from it ya know ?
were the market shrimp cooked and/or frozen...? --i.e. precooked bay shrimp.. the liiiittle pink shrimp (..no bigger than about a U.S. quarter? ..because i've heard that aros are only to be fed fresh, (many posts i've read say feeding aros from frozen is harmful) raw, shelled shrimp... cut to appropriate sized chunks. i have no clue whether or not this is significant to the drop eye developing, though.. sorry / --quite a lovely silver there, though!

Ya know it was frozen shrimp shell less that I would thaw out under cold water. Haven't fed it those in a while now. Been forking out the cash for the hikari food sticks. Trying to stay away from gold fish. Thanks for the comment broda!!
