Just a little concerned, I go through this 3 day period where I constantly worry about my new animal. The first night I kept checking on him to make sure he didn't get trapped in the plants and drown or something. I'm gonna put the wood back in. The filter, gravel and plants came for my established 55 gallon fish tank so the tank get cycled quicker.

you realize that turtles don't breath through the water and do not need a cycled tank right? That is why many turtle keepers do not have a filter but instead will perform 80-90% water changes weekly or bi weekly. there is also no need to dechlorinate the water either unless you are keeping fish with it (but since you have a snapper, I assume if you have fish, you consider them feeders).

Just trying to save you some work mate.

I don't have a snapper, I have a golden thread. I do have a convict cichlid in the tank but not concerned about him. If the tank is cycled then theres no ammonia in the tank which really helps with the smell. So I treat it like a fish tank and it smells less.

ah sorry, i got this mixed up with one of the other turtle threads going around. I understand but it just seemed like you were going through such great lengths to make sure it was cycled and I just wanted to save you some effort.

Looks good though and keep us posted.

prolly thinking of my thread and it wasnt trouble at all since i was upgrading the filtration to one of my old xp3's i had to add media in there so why not have the tank precycled so now new tank syndrome and no stinky water.

plus taking care of the water just comes with the territory since im so use to it anyways. they might not breath the water but they still poo in it and live in it.

like the golden thread chris looks good.
