Sad news, I've discovered another flaw in the construction. I was told they had prperly sealed the concrete tanks prior to painting them. Two days ago I started to see my pH climbing. Yesterday, the large tank jumped up over 9, and the ray pool started to go as well.
I pulled all my rays off the exhibit and put them back in holding. I called my boss out of town to confirm that the tanks were indeed sealed. He said they were. I was confused as to a sudden pH spike like I'm seeing. Yesterday afternoon I talked to the guy who actually did the job, he told me they skipped sealing it because they hadn't ever had much success in the past with the seal!!! AHHH!!!
Water chemistry nightmare!! All of my rays look pretty bad this morning, but at least they are alive. (4 adult, 4 pup motoros)
I have dropped the hint that we need to dump the tanks, gut them and start over so they are done right.
Lately, it seems like if they hired me to help, they need to use the info I have....if they just want someone to pat them on the back, they need to look elsewhere.

OMG, I can't believe he skipped that!! How do you just "skip" something like that?? And your boss - WTF, did he really not know, and was under the impression it had been done, or did he just not care?? I swear Matt, some of the things that go on there make me wonder why those people are even allowed to hold these positions!! And why is it that they never listen to you until AFTER your point is sadly prooven (usually with loss of animal life as the cost!)? They swear they know what they are doing, basically tell you to shut it, and do your job, and then when they F*ck things up, they get pissed at you "for not telling them it could happen!" WTF?? I don't blame you one bit for being fed up with this BS. I am just surprised you stuck it out this long. If I were you, I would have stayed at DW!! I am sorry you are having to deal with this sh*t, I know it comes at a really bad time, considering everything eles going on!! What nobs!
