Need Advice/Help Don't Know How To Fix

I might just do what you suggested about taking out about half the water or would you suggest all of it and just fresh starting? I didn't know you were not supposed to clean the outside with Windex as I have done this on my 20gallon never the inside ever even when it was empty but I also clean my 45gallon tank with Windex on the outside of the glass and its fine? So should I empty half way and add the right amount of Stress Coat and Quick Start? Or should I empty all the way and do the same? I didn't know you were not supposed to clean the outside with Windex but I have never had a issue with that before.

I clean all my tanks outside with windex. it aint going to leach through the glass. best to spray the towel tho not the glass just to avoid over spray getting in the tank.

windex is fine if you DON'T get any IN the tank...lots of ammonia in it ,it's a fish killer(I apply it to the cleaning cloth not the tank)...as FAR AS THE NEW TANK... and I PROBABLY WILL GET FLAMED FOR THIS IDEA.... remove about 75% of your water and refill with treated tap water,,,then test(next day) ,,,,ammonia SHOULD BE LOWERED considerably but still high enough to fuel bacteria...at least at that point you may know if you have a stay source of ammonia or if you are cycling

I removed pretty much all of it, you posted while I was actually filling tank hopefully it's fine I refilled with tap water. Tested my tap water from my bathroom I use for water changes and I got a high ammonia reading? Is this normal ph from tap is about 7.2 I added 10ml of stress coat to the tank should I add the quick start now or later?

if you are fishless cycling all you need to do is nothing but add ammonia or fish food to keep you at around 2.5ppm ammonia and just let her run, takes 6 to 8 weeks, raising the temp to 90 or so will speed it up a bit. to much ammonia will hinder the cycling. start testing 2 weeks in for nitrite, then 3 or 4 weeks later nitrate, when 2.5ppm ammonia has processed in less than 24 hours, you good to go.

......... I would take some bb from my other filter but I have a tertra EX70 on that tank which makes it really awkward.

........................................... it is killing me seeing this tank empty for so long.
doesn't the tetra EX70 hold 2 cartridges? when the time comes for you to replace one of them, cut apart the old cartridge & throw away the dirty carbon and the plastic cartridge frame, then put the old empty media material inside your new AC filter.
Some established media will help hurry things up a LOT, if the BB is kept fed.
