it depends on the person, the stability ball requirs a lot more balance, this is a good thing but some people will have to much trouble if there balance is to poor.

i personaly like the bench more because you can lift heavier on it without worring about rolling off and smooshing yourself haha. but if your not lifting to healy and you have decent balance like a normal person i would go with the stability ball

Im agreeing with Alex. get a stability ball and some floor space in your house. get some dumbells too. I dont think you need to get a big weight bench set up since youre not trying to bulk up. you can do dumbells on the ballance ball too. I used to sell fitness equipment the short time i was out of the marine Corps. my advice used to always be, "The best piece of equipment is the one youre going to use."
I reccommend yoga also - yes a Marine that does Yoga! P90X is good too if you want to really get into it. Dont spend the outrageous $$ on it though, download it .
Oh and dont get sucked into all those supplements and diet aids.
off my soapbox now

agreed, p90x is a great start and will teach you a lot of different work outs, and also semper fish is right about the supplement, you dont need anything (i take a bunch but i dont need any of it) im just really into it haha. you can get enough of everything you need from what you eat.

but dont worry about bulking up, it will not happen to a female

this is a natural (besides her breasts) female body with a lot of hard resistance training including weight lifting http://fheit.com/img/photos/calendarGirl/image001.jpg

you have nothing to worry about unless you are sticking needlesin your butt.
work out hard and dont let the "i dont want to be bulky" mentality keep you from lifting hard!

3-4 sets of 8-12 reps w/ 30-60 sec rest from best results in fat lose and muscle definition!

im not using any shakes or anything like that. i already eat healthy, so im just looking into working out. i dont think im very good with my balance, maybe i better stick with the bench. i'll just have to find one that's adjustable.
