Try putting some fake plants and a couple of rocks in a small pile. You can also put a couple large rocks by themselves. You dont have to make a actual cave, just some cover for him to feel secure or stake out for his area. He might like to be able to take cover behind the plants. I noticed that my fronts when they feel comfortable have a nice blue tint to them and when they are nervous they tend to clamp the fins a bit and act skitish. most noticable is the white/blue stripes blanch completly white like somebody bleached them. The black stripes appear inky black too. They often have black blotches on the head too. They only do that when they are frightened or very nervous about something, such as aggression from alpha etc...

Good idea, I already thought of that one though lol. I added a few huge plastic plants on the right side, he completely ignors them. The only thing he's intrested in now is a large peice of dry coral that he is trying to take away from my yellow lab.

I have some rock that I can put in, however it gets messy, and it brings the ph down for some reason. (my guess is that they're lava rock)

I'll try switching the envirement around later tonight.

Im lucky i have alot of rock in my pasture and yard. I live near the shores of lake onterio so i have a unlimeted supply of rock for my tanks. I heard alot of people say they go to lanscaping places and also places that sell gravel etc.. like rock quarry places. If he is interested in rocks he would like that alot i bet. If your adventurous i also know people have went into streams and got river rock right out of there (make sure your not seen or check to make sure you wont get in trouble first) they also go around underpasses etc, where they often stack rock to keep soil erosion down, (once again dont get in trouble lol)There are probably alot of places you could find rock for your tanks if you were to look around. (I just cant pay $ for a rock.)

Yeah I love the way rocks look too, but in my experience they just make the tank dirty and provide lots of places for fish poop to catch and become nasty. Well I've had good experience with lava rock because it stacks so nicely in discus tanks and lowers the ph but that's about it. Their are rocks around, and a river near by, it's just don't take those kinds of risks lol.

Considering one of my large peacocks probably costs more than an avrage persons entire stock lol.

Just that sickly frontosa costed me about 60 bucks, I must have the word sucker tatoo'd onto my head hehe. Oh well lol.

I love their big tough look, it's kind of funny when you find out they're total wimps lol!

You know red devil the funny thing is he has places were he hides when he's freaked out, but I noticed he comes into the open after he calms down. He still dosen't trust me, swims to the back as soon as go a few feet near the tank.

He is starting to move gravel around now get a bit more agressive, GOOD to see!!!!!!

it was funny when he he yawned and the courious eel stuck his head in the fronts mouth!!! yikes!!!! The front just looked surpised and swam backwards

The yellow lab is still definitly the boss of my tank, he's a monster in his own rights. I've never seen a lab get that big, although his huge bulky looking face and sub-marine like build makes me think he's some kind of cross-breed.

The way you talk of your lab i would be inclined to say he probably is mixed with something more aggressive, i have been raising and keeping labs for a long time and they are so sweet...love to see a pic of him..
