Neon Tetra breeding log...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That sucks. I'm sorry. I'm also having trouble with my breeding project so at least me and you are on the same page :headbang2 I'm sure you will start getting better as they spawn.

Bought a white worm culture thinking it would make a good food for the neons. Turns out the adult white wyrms are a bit big... I can feed them to other critters problem is the culture is teaming with small brown bugs I think are mites *and* spring tails! So now I have to find a way to rid myself of those.

Might try to keep the spring tails they are a cool little bug but the mites have to go and both have to go from the white worm culture =<

I have another pair in a container to spawn and the only thing different is that I used fresh RO water instead of tank water. This makes it more similar to the first spawn where I ended up with 8 fry. Only problem is the male is a bit small and to be honest i'm not 100% sure its a male that is a problem PLUS its small. Other than that nothing new to tell as I'm still waiting on most of the neons to grow up and the big ones have spawned recently =/

Doing good so far but I am not sure there are still 8. I dropped a sinking food pellet and some microfex worms into the tank to cause an infusoria bloom and another food source. Also added some moina to eat the infusoria as the neons are getting bigger and can probably take advantage of the moina offspring easily. This should provide a continuous supply of food so long as a surface scum layer doesn't form too thick.

Anyone ID this critter? My moina culture is "new" and so far this is the second hitchhiker I have found. The first being a mosquito larva... It was found crawling around the culture container at the water line.
