They retail at $2-$3 a piece and stores pay between 30-50ish% of what they're selling it for usually so you're talking about $1-$1.50 a fish and on a big scale that could have a big profit.
I got about 70 Neons ... I don't if they will breed in my condition .. is there enough plants ? do I need a breeding mop ? Whats important for breeding Tetras ?
Thank you in advance !! Btw I got a 80gal. tank ...
IMO You have a good setup for neon spawning in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they have spawned *but* when not spawning they like to eat the eggs and fry... Alot of hiding spaces in your tank tho.
I moved 9 neon fry and 7 mayfly larvae to seperate containers. The mayfly larvae (if thats what they are) are interesting to watch. They appear to have a modified lower jaw that can reach out to grab microworms infront of their face.
As for my lack of success getting good spawns from the neons I believe I know the reason why only the first spawn has given any fry... The bag of 100 neons I mixed in with them must be younger than the 6 I started with (hopefully not too old). Really wish I didn't get them mixed together as its been hard to find the "big" males to put in containers with the females. I'll just keep trying to get a good spawn.
I have many insects in one of my tanks including mayfly, dragonfly and cranefly larva. They are cool to watch. Put a picture up of it and i will try and identify it. btw ghost shrimp are cool to watch to and are always producing larvas.
The neon females generally speaking have a rounder belly and the blue line on the side is not as straight. When they have eggs its *much* more obvious.
