Maybe your intake tube is not tight enough and got air sipping in

I like my XP 3 when it's running right. Sometimes it can be frustrating when the XP3 get air in there after a waterchange. Between the Eheim and XP3 I would take the Eheim over the Rena XP3 anyday.

i used to have the same problem with one of my xp3s cause my intake tube would disconnect so i always check to see if the blue plastic tubing is put on tightly

yeah thats my problem....but i dunno how it lost half a filetr full of water....?

Instead of letting it siphon to fill up, put the hose in the intake hole and fill the filter that way, then you don't have to worry about it. Sometimes you may have to top it off with water though, but it makes it much faster and hastle free.
