New 1100 Gallon Indoor Pond!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not wanting to hijack this great thread but I use bird netting over a PVC frame to cover my pools. I keep SA Arowana which jump so I use a fairly small gauage and suspend the net high since I hate having to stoop when I get in. 15mm PVC pipe and standard fittings.

I figured this teepee design would be cheapest (least parts and lengths) and allow anything which might get caught up to wriggle out safely. It is dirt cheap too.

There is a 800 gallon I think but its softer sided instead of the harder liner side like on mine and necrocanis. Someone else has that model with arowana's in it on here.

I checked the temp and it was at 76 when I left for work this morning so 3 degrees in about 6hrs it should be at 78 where I set it when I get home so tonight the planiceps and TSN are going in. :) ~Trent

A few updated pics, I moved the Planiceps over into the pond, you can see some gill curl on it still which hopefully the improved water quality/current in the pond along with some melafix will heal over the next couple weeks. It was 15" when I measured it and barely fit in the net...which brings me to my next point.

The TSN is to big for my net so it will have to wait until I can either buy a massive aquarium net or a good landing net from bass pro shops later this weekend. The TSN by my best calculations based on comparison between the planiceps is 18" or so but alot fatter so I don't want to try and risk moving it with my current aquarium net.

The real filtration should be on it in roughly 2 weeks I will be ordering it next saturday more then likely and setup probably by mid week the following week.

sorry if this was said earlier in the thread but how many gallons is that? and what are the dimensions?

use a wet towel to transfer it if its not too far away from point A to point B

I just moved my 1ft Tsn and i wouldnt use a net man bad news i used a 5 gal bucket so he wouldnt get stuck and i wouldnt tear him up.

I don't ever use nets to transfer fish. At the most I just use them to catch the fish then I grab them with wet gentle hands. I read a really long time ago that this was the best way to move discus so I know it can't really be bad for any other fish.
