New 1100 Gallon Indoor Pond!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow, nice cats trent. Your TSN looks plenty dark to me. I got Lima envy though lol. Your's is bigger than mine lol. I don't want to risk putting my limas in with my big fish. They would be a definite snack for the jau right now. My biggest is 14 1/2" at 11 months. Hoping that he will make it over the 18" mark by this time next year. Might go ahead and get a small pond like 100 gals just for the limas.

Lima's rock I wish I had another beast one to cohabitate with the one I have now...if only I knew how to sex them and or had another large one...that would be a real accomplishment if I could actually breed them I think. But alas no, and chances of finding another huge one anytime soon is slim to none. When I did have a couple Limas it was awesome to watch them school together and strategically hunt down the ghost shrimp just taking turns eating.

You don't put your Limas in with the Jau for the same reason I moved my TSN out of the 240. The size difference is to big and the aggresive tendancy is to high. After watching my 22" TSN eat a 12-13" Lima I started worrying about my Tigrinus, the last thing I need is my freaking TSN to eat a $400 fish. I haven't moved the Tig to the pond for that reason and because its small enough to have plenty of room and its gorgeous so its staying the tank for as long as possible.

With the exception of the 2 fish in my sig that I want the other fish are taking priority over the cats for a litte bit, I'm hoping to secure 3 azuls in a couple weeks and also have my 20 free again since I sold the pikes so I'm thinking about a small school probably 3 of baby high fin sharks because I really loved that fish alot. I'm sure with the way your fish are fed bro that your Lima's will catch mine eventually probably sooner rather then later. 14.5" in 11 months is really good growth for a Lima.

Tnx man, and good luck with the azuls. I'd love to have some too, but with montana having virtually no good fish, and having to ship in anything that would be common anywhere else, I just don't have the money to ship in anything except fish that I know are my passion, and that's my catfish lol. I am addicted to catfish. I'll keep other fish that are given to me, but my money goes to the cats. I have started taking in large cichlids locally that people can't house anymore. Good luck.

None at the moment, although the thought crosses my mind about once a month on growing out a baby pima to add in there :) maybe someday down the road I'll grow one out for a year or two ~Trent

Got a new resident for the pond tonight :) 20-22" Lima Shovelnose!

This is without a doubt the single largest Lima I have ever seen anywhere, never seen pics of one this big online or seen any close to this size in an aquarium either private or public aquariums. It is HUGE! I've heard of one member who had some this size in the 50k gallon tank at one point but I think they are the only ones with Lima's this big at any time to my knowledge. Better pics to come later this week.

Also, upgraded my surface tention water pump I had a smaller rio pushing like 200gph for surface current but now am running 700gph across it with a Rio 2800 SS :)

HOLY CRAP!!! Thats HUGE!!! Congrats man ... Nice Find!

Thought crosses my mind too, when I think about getting started on the 4000 gal, but I might save the space for certain catfish!
