first off, i'm getting this question alot so let me answer..
the tank dimensions are 15x3x3. 1,000 gallons GLASS. sorry it wasn't 12 but 15'.
and other comments that are flamingblaming me for having 20 eheim filters...why do you care??? seriously. it's my money, my tank, my electricity, my bills.
the way your comments are posted sounds like you're trying to make fun of me for having alot of filters...
whatever the sump or refugium or wet/dry filter, i don't now what you call it but they're EXTREMELY confusing to me. and i currently don't have the time to learn about any more filters so this it the route i took.
stupid and expensive or not, it's my choice.
the more filters you have, the less slight ammonia/nitrite spike the fish would have to suffer through after feeding time.
you must know that; all the food instantly turns into ammonia after dumping in the tank, so the more filters you have, the more polluted water are sucked in and turned into relatively harmless nitrates.
and i'm a really big eheim fan, i LOVE eheims, and it's been a dream of mine to PACK the cabinet with eheim filters.
weird dream but if you don't like it, then please keep your comments to yourself.
also, this is nothing close to the filtration mother nature has in the lakes and rivers on this Earth.
the tank will be pretty packed and they will be massive waste producers, and some will pee alot from eating fruits. so i will be needing this filtration.
also all of the eheims are used to provide oxygen to the tank as well. i do not like air pumps and powerheads that take too much space in the tank(tubing, airstone, etc.).
lots of fish=lots of filters and oxygen

Jebus, thats alot of filters. What are you planning for filter maintenance?
well since i did buy 20 of them, i'm thinking maybe the owner of eheim can come down and clean them every month.
lol jkjk
the tank is in Japan and I go back every 4~8weeks.
and since i do have alot of filters on the tank, I wouldn't have to clean them as much as having 1 or 2 in one tank.
So I'm gonna clean them myself probably every 6weeks or 2months.

I do have to say that pluming job is clean as hell, i'm really impressed how good that looks..
lol it's only a big piece of glass still

LoL how much does each of those canisters cost like 300+? LoL That is a big tank its as long as my room. Maybe one day i can have a tnk like that just mybe. Good luck with it and is that a fish room?
i did get around $1,800 off though, bulk discount.
yup it's a NEW fish room, can you see the other tanks behind it?

I'd hate to have to clean all of those!! Awesome tank!
i can't wait!
hey; maintenance is part of the "fun" in aquariums.
although it would probably take me 90minutes just to clean the sponges
OscartheGrouch;1459438; said:
Whoa!!! You followed an Eheim rep home and hi-jacked his truck?
oooop you got me! (keep it a secret)haha

That is ridiculously awesome. Skip the the Pima, get something more manageable.
nahh; i already reserved a baby pirarucu, it's always been my dream to keep one. but i probably would never be able to heat a 50' pond in Japan so decided to get a tank.
luckily i made friends with a public aquarium owner in Japan, it's in Ikebukuro. He said that he'll take them in once mine get bigger!!
so i'll probably be able to keep him for a year or two...depending on growth rate
a school of neon tetras in a planted tank would be relaxing wouldn't it? oh, i already have that tank theme.lol

That thing is way to small, you'll be lucky to even fit one female betta in there

haha. Cant wait to see this thing filled up, please keep us updated! That is very cool!
Jimmy
true. very true. in the wild betta have a whole rice patty to themselves.
i mean if you think about it in reality; keeping fish is kinda cruel, in the wild they have a whole lake or river to themselves.
nothing would satisfy a fish in captivity.
if i were a baby great white or bluefin tuna, i would think monterey bay aquarium's one million gallon tank is tiny.
Gr8KarmaSF;1459468; said:
Very nice....cant wait to help you setup!!!
LOL
oh i wish you can help me with the tank...it's just that it's in Japan.lol long ways from the bay area.
tunerX;1459718; said:
That was several grand just in filters.
would have been around $6,500. but i did get a couple K's off for buying so much at the same time.
pdbrady;1459785; said:
Dayuuuum! The cans are going to take up as much space as the tank itself! Very clean!
the whole point.lol
tapeworm;1459800; said:
Thats what I thought when I saw the tank picture. Not to mention the cost of them, you probably could have had 2 complete set ups like that one in the picture with sumps!
i already have enough setups.
i am not allowed to buy anymore for a loooong time. so i heck why not get 20 eheim filters?
hotfishgirls;1459841; said:
money to burn,must be nice.Great tank,silly filtration
the electricity bills won't make too much of a difference. filters don't take up too much energy. the heaters do, but they barely turn on
Mystix212;1459862; said:
I think of is as a waste of resources.
There is far more efficent filtration available on the market or a fraction of the cost.
that's your personal opinion.
as the owner of the tank and filters, i think it's lovely to have 20filters in the cabinet
OscartheGrouch;1459870; said:
Give us the heads up when you're selling those filters.
i will not be selling any of my filters.
cichlaguapote;1459887; said:
I just thought about trying to plug in 20 canister filters.. UGH..
powerstations and extension cords are the way to go. and then mess up with the wires a bit as to not have your house shut down from having so many filters running at once
devlyyn;1460012; said:
Pretty sweet tank, I know all of us are jealous.
I would have personally gone for a sump instead, but hey, it's your tank so more power to ya! Keep us updated with stocking choices.
yes keyword "jealous"
i think that's what most people that are telling me it's a pointless to have 20 eheim filters running.
Stone Like Fish;1460073; said:
Lol, you guys are all saying "i would of gone with sump" but thats probably because your so envious and can't afford those filters...(me included, but i see nothing wrong with the filtration. Like, have oyu ever seen it done before?)
yes thanks for being a nice guy, again i think the people that are telling me it's stupid are just plain jealous.
well, i worked hard to buy this set up so please do not insult me.
Tsunamiboy77;1460099; said:
great tank. i would fill it up with some baby silers and grow them, but thats just me. whats the 3rd picure of the silver and green things?
it's the eheim trademark tubing and the output spraybar
WyldFya;1460192; said:
Eheim canisters are not good at mech filtration, which is what is the primary bulk of filter cleaning. My eheims don't get cleans very often at all, they don't need it.
that's 'cause you're using the sponges that came with the filter.
and plus filters don't do too much mechanical filtration. it just gets pushed into the gravel.
WyldFya;1460203; said:
I can afford that pretty easily, I have a several filters that are more expensive than the 2080. The point isn't that he has money to throw around, but rather that he has wasted a lot of money where it could have been spent on more realistic things.
if you can afford "that" pretty easily, i would like to see you do the same thing.
i worked hard for this and don't like it when you say "wasted a lot of money"
i don't care what you think, again it's my money.
and again it has been my dream to pack a cabinet with canister filters.
and again i do not know how to use sumps or whatever...
