new 8 feet tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if the tanks all set up i dont think you should have to scrub it or anything. Just rinse it thoroughly and i'm sure you'll be fine.

thanks :) yup i'm in the philippines
currently have 2 arowanas which will go into the tank, i'll be putting a divider.

I filled the tank with water

my 2 arowanas are currently in a 120 gallon tank, I'll get the eheim 2250's media and transfer them into the sump once the tank is ready

will also be adding the matala mat

, I'm still waiting for the acrylic strips.
after i rinse and remove the water, can i use the tank already?

Hmmmm... honestly, i'm not 100% sure and don't want to give you the wrong info since i'm not sure how long it normally takes for a sump to build enough bacteria to keep two aro's going... hopefully some one else with more experience in this are can give you some better info there...

saan ka sa pinas pre, mg kano yan tank?

Also..........you may want to put some starter fish in first to get the cycle going before you put in the Aro's. Keep putting more starter fish in until the amount of starter fish equals the two Aro's, weight wise. This will get the bacterial level to the correct amount with out stressing the Aro's. Let everything stabilize for a week or so then remove the starter fish and add the Aros'.

Another tip use the old water from other tanks to fill the new tank.

^ I've read old water does nothing to help cycling a tank... not sure if its true or not, but thought i would put that out there... not to mention that although using starter fish will help cycle the tank, what are you going to do with those starter fish when you put the Aro's in there... since if you add the aro's to the tank with the starter fish, you just going to be adding more bio-load to your tank which means you'll need more bacteria...

Read my post again. You can also use the starter fish as feeders, flush them, put em in a bucket.
I think most people here on MFK will agree the old water will help your cycle. I also use an old filter, the dirtyer the better, to cycle a new tank.

When I start a new tank I use my old media with some new to start up the cycle.
