New 90 gallon tank stocking!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It’s been 4 hours since I took him out. Tank water was 75. I know it was low. I don’t understand how it could’ve gone down so much. I put the tank at 75. I keep adding cold water. It’s very stressful. What do I do? How is he still alive?

I bet your floor temp is around 69-70f.
It will be fine at that temperature temporarily. I forgot to turn my heaters back on and found them the next day in the afternoon at 68f still begging for food. Do a warm water change to bring it up a couple of degrees. Then you can heat up the water some more 3-4 hours later

Upper jaws and lapredei do fine even in 73f long term 4months out of the year

70 is fine for now, it would have to drop a lot more to be lethal. What is the temp outside, are you sure the thermometer is running right?

He’s acclimating in a trash bag to a tank 72.7 degrees. Super stressful. I’ve had him in their for 20 minutes, but want to be 100% sure.
I wouldn’t worry too much. Bichirs are tough. He will be sluggish, but will survive. He has to be exposed to low temperatures for a good amount of time before it gets bad. A few hours won’t kill him.

I’ll raise the temp by 1 degree daily until I get to 78
You could probably get away with doing that faster. If I need to make a temp change, I will just turn the heater right to that, probably not recommended but I’ve never had any fish show temp change problems. Same with if I accidentally fill a tank too hot or cold on w/c day.
