new addition!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my fishes are fed well. i feed them when i get up at 5:30 in the morning, then at 4:30 after work, then a light snack at 10:00 at night. that is if they are hungry. the uneaten food gets sucked out.

also does any1 here use ping pong balls in the tank to combat drop eye?
i have a ping pong ball partially filled with water so it constantly floats just under the water surface. also have a fake plant floating just so my arowana is constantly looking up. what do you guys think?

o and the gar is pretty spoiled. he is the only fish i have thats hand fed lol. in a few weeks im gonna try and starve them to get them on pellets. also trying shrimp and tilapia. wish me luck lol

that surely will not help combat drop eye...there are so many threads in here about drop eye..ping pong balls have been tried by many and failed..also even if you add hiding places in the tank the ck will not be hiding in the nite..and the aro wont be hiding either...the ck is an active hunter at night.

for the past 3 nights the ck has been quiet and not attacking either of the 2 fish. i feed them just before i sleep so they are full at night. adding more spots might curb some territorial aggression *fingers crossed*

I might be getting a silver arowana and I have a CK in there now. I will be watching this thread. Its true though, that when the lights are off and its night, my CK is all over the tank doing his thing. I've seen a little aggression towards my other fish but nothing im to worried about. Im thinking about adding some decorations that float. But even if I were to add more hiding spots, my CK would still be up and about. Hope all goes well for u

i know the ck is active at night as it is nocturnal. but as some1 on this thread mentioned, the nipping is more likely due to territorial aggression and not of food as the arowana is the same size as the ck. by rearranging the decor/adding some more, i hope to curb this aggression. but then again it might not work, but worth a try. also i also put up a blue light. i can atleast see whats going on and doesnt seem to bother the fish. this weekend ill be buying more driftwood and putting up more plants. hope the nipping stops.

i also read if there are flashing lights on top of the tank, that will help with drop eye...does this work?

what we have seen here on mfk is that DE usually happens on most aros after they have hit their head hard or jumped out..but its also something to do with the genes i guess.. there has been so much captive breeding that DE in silvers is almost a certainty...(except for koji who has amazing silvers without DE),:headbang2

I would think flashing lights would freak them out and cause them to jump; thereby getting head trauma.
