New baby silver

well i havent fed my aro since 3-4ish pm today now its 10pm and decided to try the hikari sticks. Since these sticks are for a larger aros i had to break 1 stick into 3 pieces. He went to them right away circled them and ate 1 piece at first i was so excited i looked away for about 5 min to wash my hands and there isnt anymore in the tank!! 1 stick should be enough for such a small aro. Im going to try again tom bc these blood worms stink and the left overs just squiggle at the bottom of the tank. haha

Am i just paraniod or is this normal?

Picked up my baby aro on sat 1/24 about 2''
Put it in a 75g with feeder guppies
Next day 1/25 I took the rocks and guppies out (aro the only one in the tank)
Always fed it black worms and i think it ate 2 crickets
1/26 I changed 25% of the water bc of left over debris from the rocks
1/27 I tried the hikari sticks and he eats it
1/27-28 today i actually sat and watched the fish do NOTHING. It stays at the same spot all the time (opposite side of the filter) in the corner. I honestly dont remember seeing him active just yet. Is this common for such a young aro? or should i be concerned?

Im thinking he is new to the tank.. getting adjusted to the water..or scared of the water flow of the tank or maybe... sick. He has no problems eating and or getting the food but after he eats he always goes back to the same spot..

Its just getting used to the new tank. It could take weeks. If the corner is where it feels most comfortable for now, so be it, but it will come around. No worries.

Also, what type of hikari pellets are you feeding it? They shouldnt sink. Make sure its the carnivore food sticks. Break it in half before feeding an arowana that small. They can start taking the food stick whole at around 4-5 inches.

i hope your right about it takes time to adjust to the tank. since it snowed today i was home all day and watched the fish at the same spot for the whole day unless it was time to eat then he would come out but then go right back.

I was like you when I got my first arowana. It was a jardini, and it behaved exactly like yours. It just hovered at the back left corner of the tank. It would only come out to eat and then go back. After about a week of getting used to its surroundings, it started swimming up and down the left side of the tank, and before I knew it, it was doing laps around the entire tank.

Your aro will be fine! Just have to be patient.

ok..ok.. sorry im just being paranoid.. this morning i broke up another pellet and he ate it right away! Im going to mix in some live/frozen foods once and awhile for a variety. Once i get ahold of a camera il post some pics!

thanks for all those who have helped me soo far!

Which pellet food gives the most color for the fish..? I know most of the color comes from shellfish but which brand or pellet have the best results? hikari..azoo.. hikari gold? (i read like 10 threads about this subject last night lol)

im willing to listen to advice or suggestions thanks

You could try, but i personally think just keeping it basic with aro sticks, shrimp, and krill is already good enough.

What came to my concern is the little aro will stay at the corner (away from the filter) for hours and only go to the other side once and awhile.

!

juvenile arowanas arent too fond of high flowing water bro...

they prefer the calm water when theyre young...itd be like puttin you in the washing machine :)
